Contents

Our experience gained in working closely with schools, colleges, universities and other higher education establishments needing to comply with the Special Educational Needs & Disability Act 2001 (SENDA) means that we can offer accurate, comprehensive and cost-effective solutions to your transcription requirements. As an illustration, if student material is provided in audio format, for example audio tapes or CDs, printed transcriptions of the material must be available for deaf or partially deaf students.

Under the terms of the Act it is unlawful for the body responsible for an educational institution to discriminate against a disabled person:
  • in the arrangements it makes for determining admissions to the institution
  • in the terms on which it offers to admit him to the institution
  • by refusing or deliberately omitting to accept an application for his admission to the institution.
It is also unlawful for the body responsible for an educational institution to discriminate against a disabled student in the student services it provides, or offers to provide; or to discriminate against a disabled student by excluding him, or her, from the institution, whether permanently or temporarily.

We will be happy to advise you on this matter should you wish.
